Director John Woo, known for his action films like “No Faces” and “Hard Boiled”commented on the current state of Hollywood in a new interview.
The author admitted that he never liked big-budget films with a lot of special effects and films based on comic books. He prefers “old school” films, created in the spirit of the works of Martin Scorsese – he considers them “real cinema.” At the same time, Wu noted that very few such films have appeared recently.
The director himself really wants to watch “Killers of the Flower Moon” — the film is already in theaters, but the author, apparently, has not yet had time to evaluate it. At the same time, Wu recalled that his film “Bullet in the Head” was inspired “Mean Streets” the same Scorsese.
John Woo will soon premiere a new action movie “Silent Fury”, where Joel Kinnaman (“Suicide Squad: Mission Bang Bang”) played the lead role. He will play the role of a father whose son dies in a random shootout – the character responds by taking revenge on those responsible, using cruel actions rather than words.
The film, by the way, will also be released in Russia – the premiere is scheduled for November 30.
