Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Direct Attached Storage (DAS) are seemingly similar but different data storage solutions. While NAS devices are connected over a network and accessible to multiple users simultaneously, DAS devices offer a direct connection to a computer, making them ideal for quick data access. These technologies are essential for data backup, media streaming and data archiving for both private users and businesses. DAS solutions are slightly faster via Thunderbolt because they are connected at 40 Gbit/s compared to a LAN, which is often only one gigabit or 2.5 Gbit/s fast.
Just in time for Black Friday, Terramaster has announced a series of offers on its high-quality NAS and DAS systems, allowing users to expand or build their digital infrastructure. With these discounts, Terramaster provides affordable solutions for increasing data management and storage needs.

Terramaster F2-423: Compact and fast NAS with 2.5 GbE
The Terramaster F2-423 NAS 2-Bay Enclosure is offered at a tempting Black Friday price. Originally listed for €399.99, the device is now available for €319.99. It combines robust performance with adaptability and is aimed at users with sophisticated requirements. It is powered by an N5095 quad-core 2.0 GHz processor and supported by 4 GB DDR4 RAM, which can be expanded up to 32 GB.
The model stands out for its connectivity, with two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports that can reach speeds of up to 5 Gbps when using link aggregation. The F2-423 can manage a maximum raw internal capacity of 40TB, split between two drive bays that support up to 20TB each. It is compatible with 3.5″ and 2.5″ SATA HDDs as well as 2.5″ SATA SSDs. For additional customization and security, the device supports RAID 0/1, online capacity expansion and online migration. An outstanding feature is the integrated M.2 2280 NVMe SSD slot, which enables SSD cache acceleration and thus significantly improves access times to the disk array.
The F2-423 isn’t just limited to data storage; it also enables hosting of mail servers, web servers, FTP servers, MySQL databases, CRM systems, Node.js, virtual machines and other commercial and open source applications. The NAS case is made of aluminum alloy and can be placed both vertically and horizontally. It has an intelligently controlled fan that ensures effective heat dissipation with low noise levels.
Terramaster T6-423: 6-bay NAS with a good design and M.2 socket
For this year’s Black Friday, Amazon is presenting the Terramaster T6-423 6-slot NAS device at a special price of €607.99 instead of the regular price of €759.99, which represents a savings of 20 percent. The T6-423 is aimed at users with high performance demands and small companies. It is equipped with an N5095 quad-core 2.0 GHz CPU and 4 GB DDR4 RAM, which can be expanded up to 32 GB, thus providing strong performance.
With two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports, the NAS offers fast data transfer rates of up to 5 Gbit/s using link aggregation. Also worth highlighting is the maximum raw internal capacity of 120TB, which can be achieved through six 20TB drives, as well as compatibility with 3.5″ and 2.5″ SATA HDDs and 2.5″ SATA SSDs. It supports a wide range of RAID configurations, including RAID 0/1/5/6/10, and offers options such as online capacity expansion and online migration.
The T6-423 features an integrated M.2 2280 NVMe SSD slot for SSD cache acceleration, which significantly increases the performance of the hard drive array. Additionally, comprehensive backup solutions are integrated to maximize data security.
Terramaster TD2: “Just” an external housing instead of NAS, but fast at 40 Gbit/s
As part of the Black Friday offers, the Terramaster TD2 Thunderbolt 3, a 2-bay external hard drive enclosure and not a NAS, is available at a special price of €215.99. This corresponds to a discount of 20 percent compared to the regular price of €269.99. The device offers an excellent storage solution, especially for video editing, where high transfer speeds are important.
The TD2 Thunderbolt 3 is characterized by its two Thunderbolt 3 interfaces, each with a bandwidth of 40 Gbps, enabling transfer speeds of up to 760 MB/s. However, it should be noted that this model does not directly support USB interfaces. Other models, such as the D2-310, are more suitable for USB-based systems. The TD2 Thunderbolt 3 allows looping through up to six devices and can manage an impressive total storage capacity of up to 32TB (16TB x 2 in RAID 0).
Multiple RAID configurations are supported including RAID0, RAID1, JBOD and Single. Another highlight is the possibility of multi-screen display for up to three monitors, which is implemented using the Thunderbolt 3 and DisplayPort interfaces.
