Jakub Knapik, global art director CD Projekt REDanswered various questions about Cyberpunk 2077. The topic of the future engine for the sequel was also touched upon.
The team has already encountered problems when working with Unreal Engine 5. The developers will put a lot of effort into using the strengths of the engine in the second part and even expanding its capabilities. CD Projekt RED has not diminished its ambition to “push technical boundaries.” The studio’s partners will also help with this.
Knapik said that the developers continue to improve the path tracing and in particular the Overdrive mode for Cyberpunk 2077. They focused on low-light image stability and overall quality, and also carried out work on the rendering of heroes. There will be improvements in ray reconstruction in DLSS 3.5, where minor artifacts and blur are observed. Work is underway on a full implementation of AMD’s FSR3. Yakub called the technology interesting, but the date of its appearance in Cyberpunk 2077 is not named – more time is needed to release a patch from FSR3 with the desired quality results.
In other interesting news about Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt announced the Ultimate Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, which includes the Phantom Liberty expansion pack. And the actions of the sequel will not necessarily be tied to Night City.
