The release of Starfield in early September was only the beginning of the game’s many years of development, as the developers from Bethesda themselves have repeatedly said. It is expected that early next year the game will receive full support for mods on all platforms, as well as a number of other changes. Plus, the first DLC for Starfield is in development, and the total number of planned additions has not yet been specified.
Many players expect that after the release of Starfield, most of the Bethesda team will switch to developing The Elder Scrolls VI. But at the moment this has not happened. At least half of the staff is still working on Starfield. Todd Howard talked about this in an interview:
As we speak, we have 450 people working here. We still have people on our team working on Fallout 76, and about 250 people are currently working on Starfield.
It was previously reported that the total number of employees who worked on Starfield during the active creation of the project reached 500 people.
How many people at Bethesda are currently working on The Elder Scrolls VI is unknown. Todd Howard previously said that the early announcement of the project was a necessary measure.
