Publisher Crytivo and developers from the Armenian Metalladlerstudio via the portal IGN announced the early access release date of their strategy game Ratten Reich, which combines elements of dieselpunk and steampunk.
Ratten Reich takes place in a fictional world torn apart by endless wars between countries of rats, mice, lizards and cockroaches pursuing their own interests.
“Advances in the study of steam and diesel fuel have given rise to ever more ruthless instruments of destruction, leading the world into an era of unprecedented technological brutality,” the game’s description reads.
In the world of Ratten Reich, the war is spread across three diverse continents, each offering its own unique combat environment:
The fortified military bases of the Central Continent make offensive maneuvers difficult; the swampy terrain of the Eastern Continent makes unit movement difficult; the vast expanses of the Desert Continent offer little cover but serve as the primary battleground for vehicular combat.
The developers of Ratten Reich promise battles with an emphasis on realism and a fully (every building) destructible environment, a vehicle modification system, graphics on Unreal Engine 4 and text translation into Russian.
As it became known, early access of Ratten Reich starts in Steam already on August 9 of this year. At launch, the game will feature all the main mechanics and several levels of the story campaign.
The full release of Ratten Reich is expected in 12-15 months. Following the successful Kickstarter campaignswhich took place in 2021, the game will also be ported to consoles (which ones and when is unclear).
