Developers from the Russian studio Battlestate Games are also developing Escape From Tarkov: Arena in parallel with Escape from Tarkov. The session-based online shooter received an update today, July 12, with a mode familiar from Counter-Strike.
Patch 0.1.9.0 brought with it the BlastGang mode, which is a 5v5 team battle with asymmetrical gameplay. One side needs to plant a bomb, and the other side needs to prevent it or defuse the device.
The gameplay with a bomb is familiar to all fans of Counter-Strike. Of course, Escape From Tarkov: Arena is not the first shooter and certainly not the last one that imitates the tactical action of the classic competitive genre from Valve.
BlastGang is available to play in ranked and unranked modes on three locations – Port 5, Stadium and the new Train Station map, from which trains connected Tarkov with other cities in the Norvinsk region.
Ahead of its in-game debut, BlastGang was given a try to select community members at the recent TwitchCon, and their impressions of the mode (among other things) are the subject of a new development diary.
In addition to the BlastGang mode and the Train Station map, the 0.1.9.0 update includes the removal of tier 2 presets for all classes, changes to armor plate colliders, the addition of LastHero mode to custom matches, and balance adjustments.
New players will be able to access Escape From Tarkov: Arena for $35, while owners of Escape from Tarkov’s Edge of Darkness ($150) or Unheard Edition ($250) will get the game as free DLC.
