The mech shooter “Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon” was received positively, but sales figures were not announced for a long time. Until now, because those responsible have now announced a major milestone.
FromSoftware’s mech shooter “Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon” will soon celebrate its first anniversary. The title was received positively by fans and critics alike. However, an official sales figure was not announced for a long time.
However, this is changing today, as those responsible at FromSoftware and Bandai Namco were able to announce a major milestone for the game. They announced the total shipments and digital sales for the shooter. “Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon” was released on August 25, 2023 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
Voice actor reported unconfirmed sales last year
As FromSoftware and Bandai Namco recently announced on Twitter, “Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon” has already sold over 3 million units in less than a year after its release. Those responsible thanked all players, new and old, who dared to take on the tough battles on Rubicon.
However, this is not the first time that the sales figures of “Armored Core 6” have been discussed. Last October, Japanese voice actor Ryo Shimokawa, who can be heard in the game as Pater (V.VIII), already gave a sales figure in a stream.
At that time, the title was said to have sold around 2.8 million copies worldwide. However, Shimokawa did not want to say where he got this information from. This number was not confirmed by either FromSoftware or Bandai Namco.
Miyazaki wants more mecha action
Last February, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the president of developer FromSoftware, spoke about “Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon”. Internally, the title was described as a success. There was also a desire to work on further projects related to “Armored Core” in the future.
“As you can see from the fact that we made Armored Core 6, the Armored Core series is really important to From Software,” Miyazaki said. “We have a strong desire to continue it in the future.”
He cannot yet say anything about further games in the Mecha series. However, the goal for future spin-offs is to increase the quality standard even further.
