Hunt: Showdown 1896 offers a lot of fresh content in the new chapter, but the title also leaves the last-gen consoles.
Crytek today officially announced the latest chapter, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and the further development of Hunt: Showdown. The development team is taking a geographical leap forward, as you will now be able to explore the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The game will launch on August 15, 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S – and this will initially have further consequences.
Because of the launch on the new consoles, Crytek is also discontinuing Hunt: Showdown on the previous platforms of the last generation, i.e. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. From this date onwards, the title can no longer be played on these consoles. At least: All console players will automatically receive a free upgrade to the next-gen version, but new hardware will then be required.
In Hunt: Showdown 1896, Mammon’s Gulch is the first map to introduce a new biome in the mountains of Colorado. The element of expanded verticality should also open up a multitude of new tactical possibilities. Technically, the new CryEngine 5.11 is used, which brings improvements to the entire previous gaming experience. There are massive visual upgrades as well as improved audio design, optimized performance and more. The original maps will also be available in revised and restored form.
What does that mean technically on PS5 and Xbox Series X? Here you can expect native 4K resolution at 60 fps. On the Xbox Series S there is 2K at 60 fps. What all platforms have in common is that HDR is also used.
