“Stellar Blade” (test on PLAY3.DE), released in April 2024, was released exclusively for the PS5. During the Metascore at 81 The user score of 9.2 also makes it clear that Shift-Up has done a convincing job.
With the PS5, the target audience is limited despite the console’s huge success. And now that Sony has started to bring more first-party games to the PC, the question also arises with “Stellar Blade” whether or when the game, developed by an external studio from South Korea, will land on Steam and Co.
Job advertisements give hope for an imminent PC version
Based on Sony Interactive Entertainment’s strategy, a PC version of “Stellar Blade” would be anything but surprising. And Shift-Up has also commented on a PC port several times without confirming it.
Two job advertisements have now appeared that could indicate such a development. Among other things, Shift-Up is looking for a Combat-Designer for the creation of a PC game. He should have knowledge of design and data processing related to this platform and, once hired, will also be responsible for PC-related system design.
Even though “Stellar Blade” is not explicitly mentioned and Shift-Up is not a studio that is limited to this brand, many people believethat applicants should focus on the PC port of the previously PS5-exclusive title.
The PC version was already a topic of discussion during the preparations for the IPO, which has now taken place. Documents in May contained the following section: “Stellar Blade is intended to attract not only existing but also new players by providing new game elements such as DLC releases, PC versions and new IP collaborations.”
There are no official announcements about the PC version, while updates expand “Stellar Blade” rather sporadically. Just yesterday, Shift-Up announced the photo mode, which is due to follow in August:
Hint of new enemies via DLC?
Since the second job posting is for a battle designer to handle monster abilities, monster-related system design, and AI design, it also raised suspicions that Shift Up has downloadable content in the pipeline that will add additional challenges to the game.
But here too, “Stellar Blade” is not the only game from the studio. For example, they are working on “Project Witches”, which is in an early stage of development.
