Publisher Kwalee and developers from the British studio Fallen Tree Games (American Fugitive) announced about the forced transfer of its police sandbox The Precinct. The announcement was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer.
Let’s recall that The Precinct was officially presented last June, and a little over a month ago it received a precise release date – the game was being prepared for release on August 15, but these plans were not destined to come true.
As it became known, the premiere of The Precinct is postponed from August 15 to the coming autumn. The developers motivated the delay by the desire to release the game in the best possible form, which turned out to be impossible to do by the middle of next month.
“The extra time will allow us to calibrate the gameplay, fix any remaining bugs, and deliver the seamless gaming experience that has been our goal since the beginning of The Precinct,” the team explained.
The Precinct will take players to 1983. The town of Averno is under the control of gangs, and recent police academy graduate Nick Cordell Jr. will have to restore order and find out the truth about his father’s death.
In addition to classic cop movies, The Precinct’s developers were clearly inspired by the first GTAs with their sky-mounted camera and wanted system, although in Fallen Tree Games, gamers will be upholding the law, not breaking it.
The Precinct is expected to be released on PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. They promise car chases, procedural crime generation, a “dose of 80s noir”, destructibility, changing weather and time of day, as well as translation into Russian.
