Publisher Electronic Arts and developers from the Canadian studio BioWare shared two pieces of positive news for those who are waiting for the release of the fantasy role-playing game Dragon Age: The Veilguard on Steam.
Firstly, following last year’s Dead Space remake, the Steam version of Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be a standalone title and will not require the third-party EA App launcher to work.
The vast majority of games released by Electronic Arts on Steam, including Dragon Age: Inquisition, are launched through the EA App installer client, but the new Dragon Age will not suffer this fate.
Secondly, upon release, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be fully compatible with Steam Deck: the game runs stably on a portable PC and displays the correct icons, and the interface is adapted to the device’s screen.
The announcement of Dragon Age: The Veilguard compatibility with Steam Deck is notable because the game still has no system requirements. Running on a Valve device does not yet guarantee smooth performance and high frame rates.
BioWare also assured that it is rapidly moving towards a confirmed fall release for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, with details of the launch promised to be shared before the end of the summer.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is being developed for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. They promise the best companions in the history of the series, flexible difficulty settings, no microtransactions and text translation into Russian.
