Concord’s Beta hasn’t been well received and it looks like the test version is the cause of a drop in pre-orders on the PlayStation Store, down compared to the past few weeks. Let’s clarify with the available data.
While there’s no way to track a game’s numbers on PS4 and PS5, Mp1st looked at the ratings of players who participated in the Beta, and the numbers aren’t great. After the initial early access phase, Concord had a user score of 2.85/5 on the PlayStation Store with over 2,500 votes, which rose to 2.67/5 by the end of the public Beta, with over 7,000 votes.
It should be noted that this data may be “false” since it was possible to vote even by simply downloading the Concord client without ever starting it. This means that players could have given a negative or positive vote on principle without having tried the Beta even for a minute.
The real problem, however, seems to be digital pre-orders: at the end of the Beta phase, Concord Deluxe Edition lost ten positions on the PlayStation Store, going from position 23 to 33, while the Standard version lost 15 positions and went from position 26 to 41. It is true that in the meantime pre-orders have opened for highly anticipated games (one among all, EA Sports FC 25) but it is still a significant drop for what is the next first party PlayStation coming to PS5 (and PC).
And speaking of PC, things don’t seem to have gone much better with the Concord Beta that gathered few players, recording a maximum peak of 2,500 users connected at the same time on Steam.
