Published by V Publishing and developed by the two-person American studio Bad Ridge Games, announced the exact release date of Mirthwood, a role-playing simulator of life in a medieval fantasy world.
According to the plot, the hero escapes from a war-torn continent to start all over again on a new land. Players will be able to build a manor, engage in farming, animal breeding, trade, take up the path of theft, become an adventurer, and so on.
Mirthwood’s open world is simulated. Resources are shared, world events can affect harvests, which in turn affects market prices, while NPCs live their own lives.
Dynamically changing seasons will bring unique challenges, and a voice-over narrator will generate world events to keep the player engaged, whether it’s a unique merchant, a storm, or an ominous phenomenon under the full moon.
What else does Mirthwood offer:
a system of interaction with townspeople in the spirit of The Sims – developing relationships with NPCs opens up additional options for interactions and new quests; survival elements for withstanding storms, diseases and cold winters; real-time battles, including upgrading combat abilities in the selected class – the gallery of enemies includes both ordinary bandits and, for example, werewolves; an open world with six regions and three cities; hand-drawn graphics with original musical accompaniment; text translation into Russian.
Mirthwood was inspired by Fable, Stardew Valley, Rimworld and The Sims. The developers mixed several genres to create “something unique” – an atmospheric sandbox in a medieval fantasy world where you choose who you want to be.
As it became known, Mirthwood will go on sale on September 11 of this year exclusively for Steam. A free demo version is available on the game page, which now does not need to be installed immediately.
