The BioShock movie in production at Netflix seemed to have fallen into oblivion but now we have the chance to discover some new information, although not exactly positive. The film will be made (that’s the good news) but it seems that the budget dedicated to it has been seriously reduced (that’s the bad news).
The information comes from one of the film’s producers, who explained that the film that will be made will be “much smaller” than initially planned.

Speaking at the Producers on Producers panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Roy Lee said, “The new production plan has reduced the budget. So we’re doing a much smaller version… It’s going to be more of a personal take, as opposed to a bigger, broader project.”
Rapture is an underwater city where a potentially idyllic society has collapsed.
Director Francis Lawrence will continue to helm the project, which was first announced in 2022. Logan and Blade Runner 2049 screenwriter Michael Green was initially attached to the project, but details about it are still unknown.
Last November, Lawrence told GamesRadar+ that the idea was to offer something new to keep even those who already know the ending of the game on the edge of their seats.
“Oh, we have some new ideas, yeah,” Lawrence said at the time, adding, “I mean, the truth is, it’s[an adaptation of]the first game, so we’re very faithful to a lot of it, right? So, we’re not breaking canon in any way. But we have some new little twists that will surprise fans, but that work for everyone. We have a great script, I’m really excited about that.”
No release date has been set for Netflix’s BioShock movie.
Still speaking of the streaming platform, let’s remember that Netflix is definitively eliminating the old ad-free subscription plan.
