It will be faster and more convenient than using the Phone Link app.
Microsoft has started testing a new feature that will allow you to access files on Android devices directly from Windows 11 File Explorer.
To activate the function, go to Settings > Bluetooth and devices > Mobile devices, select the device management section and allow connection to the Android smartphone. A request will appear with the option to enable access in Explorer, as well as notification settings and access to the camera.
Windows Insiders can try out the new feature right now. You’ll need a device running Android 11 or higher and the beta version of the Link to Windows app. Judging by the fact that the feature is available for testing in all four Windows Insider channels, including Release Preview, it’s likely to be released to all Windows 11 users very soon.
The Android smartphone will appear in File Explorer as a regular USB device, allowing you to browse folders, copy and move files, rename and delete them. This is much more convenient and faster than using the existing Link to Phone app.
