The Samsung Galaxy Flip 6 foldable smartphone has been tested for durability by Zach Nelson from the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything. Like the fifth version, the new phone turned out to be durable, strong and of high quality.
The YouTuber started with a test of the foldable screen, the results of which are similar to those shown by the Galaxy Flip 5. This means that you should not press too hard on it, remove the protective film, or leave dust on the surface before closing it.
Zach uses a scratch testing system that gradually increases the pressure on the glass to see how much it can withstand. Like its predecessor, the Flip 6’s inner screen can only withstand scratches at a level two level before permanent damage occurs.
At the same time, the outer screen only gets damaged at pressure level 6 thanks to the Glass Victus 2 protection. The aluminum frame is relatively easy to scratch on all sides, which is an argument in favor of the Galaxy Flip 6 case.
The Samsung Galaxy Flip 6 survived the sand test, where Zach sprinkled sand on the main display, cover screen, and hinge. While the particles made an unpleasant sound when folding the hinge, the functionality and appearance seemed unaffected — the phone is beach-ready.
The smartphone even survived the reverse bending test, where the experimenter tried to close it the other way. Zak praised Samsung’s “magic” in the durability of the display and hinge – some other phones have snapped in two.
Perhaps most importantly for most potential owners who don’t plan to break the phone, the crease on the Samsung Galaxy Flip 6’s screen is significantly less noticeable than on the Flip 5. Other reviewers have previously noted this.
