An extended trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power was presented at the San Diego Comic Con convention. The new episodes will premiere on August 29 on the Prime Video streaming service.
Based on the books by J. R. R. Tolkien, the show is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before Peter Jackson’s original trilogy. In the story, Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) takes on Sauron (Charlie Vickers) and the Orcs to avenge her brother’s death and put an end to the darkness once and for all.
Rings of Power debuted in 2022 to positive reviews from critics but negative reception from audiences. Warner Bros. is currently developing a new Lord of the Rings feature film, The Hunt for Gollum, scheduled for release in 2026. Andy Serkis will star and direct the film.
