The superhero comedy action film Deadpool and Wolverine just hit US theaters today, after being released worldwide. And the opening box office has already managed to exceed $100 million, as reports Discussing Film.
Let us recall that the total budget of the film is estimated at 200 million, so it seems that there is no talk of a failure. Moreover, during the period of preliminary home release, the film earned $38.5 million, which was the eighth highest grossing film of all time and the largest opening weekend for an R-rated film ever.
So far, the highest-grossing film of 2024 remains Inside Out 2, the Disney and Pixar feature film that grossed $154.2 million in North America. Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to surpass this figure and take the place of the highest-grossing premiere of the year. Analysts predict domestic collections of $160-180 million.
Although critics have given Ryan Reynolds’ new work mixed reviews, the film has already made it into the Guinness Book of Records for views of its debut trailer. Deadpool and Wolverine will hit Russian cinemas on July 29, although the “classic” dubbing will have to wait a few weeks.
