During the San Diego Comic-Con festival, James Gunn showed new logo for DC Studios. But it’s not really new: as you can see, it’s almost identical to the DC Comics logo created by Milton Glaser in 1977. The logo, nicknamed the DC Bullet, was used until 2005.
Gunn said that he and Peter Safran knew from the beginning what logo they wanted to use for DC Studios. As we recall, Gunn and Safran took over the studio in 2022, sharing the responsibilities of president and chairman.
How noted DC Comics president and co-publisher Jim Lee, the logo is associated for many fans with DC’s heyday in the 1980s, which included Watchmen, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, and The Shadow. It will begin appearing on DC comics, toys, and other merchandise, as well as DC Studios films and TV shows, beginning in October 2024.
Recall that during Comic-Con, the studio presented the debut trailer for the animated series “Monster Commandos”, which will be one of the first projects of the first phase of the updated DC universe. And in future DC Studios films, starting with “Superman” in 2025, a new title card will appear. It is based on the original drawing by Joe Shuster: Superman breaking chains.
