At San Diego Comic-Con, Paramount released the first trailer for the upcoming film Star Trek: Section 31. The film follows Section 31, a secret division of Starfleet responsible for protecting the United Federation of Planets.
Michelle Yeoh plays Philippa Georgiou, the Emperor of the Terran Empire. After a failed coup, she is transported to the Prime Universe, where she serves as a captain before being recruited into Section 31 as an operative.
The film is based on the Star Trek: Discovery series, where Yeoh captained the USS Shenzhou. In her new role as the leader of a clandestine Starfleet unit, Georgiou must not only protect planets but also “confront the sins of her past.”
Yeoh stars alongside Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky, Umberly Gonzalez and James Hiroyuki Liao. Olatunde Osunsanmi is directing from a script by Craig Sweeney.
Star Trek: Section 31 is scheduled to premiere next year and will be available to stream on Paramount+.
