At one time, the company abandoned the game and now regrets it.
Microsoft’s gaming executives hope Genshin Impact will one day come to Xbox, writes journalist and insider Jez Corden in a column for Windows Central. The game is currently only available on PC, PlayStation and mobile platforms.
And here’s another story
At one time, Corden recalls, Microsoft refused to support the creators of Genshin Impact, but the miHoYo studio was supported by Sony’s gaming division. Since then, the studio’s new games have not been released on Xbox, and Microsoft allegedly regrets that it missed out on Genshin Impact: the game’s revenue is estimated at billions of dollars.
Although Microsoft allegedly intends to change this, Corden does not specify how the corporation wants to achieve the release of Genshin Impact on its platform. Perhaps, the journalist admits, the position of the game developers themselves will change.
Estimated revenue for Genshin Impact
Over time, Genshin Impact’s revenue has dropped significantly, possibly due to the audience’s outflow to miHoYo’s other projects. In theory, the game’s release on Xbox could give the developers access to a new audience.
Predicting the size of that audience is difficult, though. Xbox Series sales are lagging far behind PlayStation 5; the console sells best in the US, but residents of that country are actively playing Genshin Impact on mobile platforms.
