23 years ago, a great real-time strategy game called Original War was released, which is still popular among true connoisseurs of the genre and continues to evolve thanks to the emergence of new mods. Version 1.6 of the fan project Sand of Siberia, which was the result of the work of ambitious fans, was recently released. The latest update has been long awaited by fans of the game, because the previous version (1.5.4a) was released back in April 2022. Their expectations were justified, as the new version 1.6 brought a lot of improvements and added features.
It is important to note that version 1.6 is not just an expansion, but a significant update of key mechanics. One of the key changes was the removal of the Russian campaign from the game. This decision was made due to the low quality and many problems in this campaign. However, fans should not despair, because an improved version of the Russian campaign promises to return in the 1.7 mod in a more attractive form.
If you are just starting to get acquainted with this mod, it is worth noting that Sands of Siberia not only adds new campaigns and battle maps, but also significantly improves the artificial intelligence in the game. New weapons, animations and sound effects are also introduced by the mod. The interface is also updated.
To successfully install the mod, you must update the game to version 3.0.9.306 at least. The changes in version 1.6 are so fundamental that trying to overwrite old files can cause problems. To avoid this, it is recommended to uninstall the previous version of the mod before installing the new one.
