Ubisoft continues to improve Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, making changes to the game mechanics and user experience. The recently released Y9S2.3 update brought a number of innovations designed to improve the comfort of players and balance some aspects of the gameplay.
One of the key changes concerns the friendly fire penalty system. Players will no longer be automatically kicked out of a match for “excessive” kills of allies or for causing them significant damage. Instead, there will only be a reverse damage mechanism: when shooting at teammates, the player will take damage himself. This solution is designed to reduce the number of accidental eliminations from the match, while maintaining a deterrent to intentional sabotage. It is worth noting that team kills and injuries will still be taken into account in the penalty system and affect the player’s reputation.
Speaking of reputation, the developers have listened to the community’s complaints about annoying notifications about its changes. From now on, instead of constant pop-up messages, changes will be marked more subtly – with a yellow dot on the “reputation system” tile in the main menu. This approach will allow players to track changes in their status without being distracted from the gameplay.
However, there were some losses. Ubisoft decided to permanently disable support for the Rainbow Six Siege tournament feature within the PlayStation Tournaments program. Previously, this feature allowed for competitions on Sony consoles in various online games. Although there was no official explanation, it can be assumed that this is due to resource optimization.
In addition to the changes mentioned, the Y9S2.3 update includes adjustments to the interface and game balance. You can see the full list of innovations at the link.
