There were proposals to make a series back in 2020.
Amazon is working on a prequel to The Boys: Vought Rising, a series that will tell the story of how the Vought corporation created the very first superheroes. The show, tells The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke got it going on the second try.
Kripke pitched the idea for Vought Rising back in 2020, alongside the idea for Generation V, a superhero college series. Amazon was interested in the college show, but decided not to buy the prequel.
Eric Kripke
showrunner
In 2020, I went to Amazon and they pitched them two spinoffs: one was Generation V and the other was Vought Rising. They only bought Generation V and said if it does well, we can do Vought Rising.
In the end, the bet on Generation V paid off: The Boys spinoff attracted a good audience and was renewed for a second season. Now Kripke finally got the chance to make Vought Rising, albeit not as a showrunner.
Vought Rising, Kripke promises, will be a series in the vein of the crime show L.A. Confidential. The project has already been greenlit by The Boys creator Garth Ennis, but there is little information about the show’s plot.
Vought Rising will feature Soldier Boy and Stormfront, characters from The Boys played by Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash. The series does not have a premiere date, so it is safe to assume that Vought Rising will not be released until 2026.
