Dating service Tinder has announced the launch of a new AI-powered feature that should make it easier for users to choose their best photos. We are talking about the Photo Selector tool, which will make it easier to choose the best photos, creating a diverse selection of photos.
To use Photo Selector, a user needs to take a selfie via Tinder and give the algorithm access to the photos stored on the device. The algorithm will then use facial recognition to select photos that it thinks are best suited for posting on a Tinder profile. It is noted that all actions are performed on the user’s device, and personal photos are not uploaded to a remote server.
In a statement, Tinder said the new feature is meant to help users focus on “making meaningful connections” and save time when creating profiles. The service conducted a study of 7,000 people aged 18 to 25, which found that choosing a profile photo takes an average of 33 minutes. The new feature is meant to cut down on that process so users can spend more time connecting.
The Photo Selector feature will be available in the Tinder app for Android and iOS devices. It will roll out in the U.S. this month and will be available to all Tinder users by the end of the summer.
