Hundreds of millions of batteries per year, to be more precise.
Although the world is developing a trend towards battery production, good old alkaline batteries are still needed: for remote controls, various sensors, portable radios, children’s toys and the like. Since the countries of the collective West have voluntarily and forcibly cut themselves off from the Russian market, Russia has no choice but to ensure technological security (technological sovereignty, implement import substitution) in this area as well.
Back in 2022, an agreement was signed to build a plant for the production of alkaline batteries in the Krasnodar Territory, and today it became known that the process is halfway to completion: a site has already been built, equipment has been purchased.
According to the plan, the enterprise is planned to be launched in 2026. The production capacity will be 500 AA and AAA batteries per minute or over 230 million per year, taking into account work in one shift.
Currently, according to statistics, there is a shortage of batteries in Russia and a sharp decline in their quality due to cheap Chinese imports. According to the plan, the above-mentioned enterprise will solve this problem.
