But once upon a time, it was here that the industrial revolution took place.
As you know very well, Britain has long ceased to be a global empire, and by no parameter does it even belong to the category of great powers any more: it is too dependent on foreign (American) political will and has no real interests of its own. Now it has become clear that by one of the key parameters that made the collective West rich and powerful – industrial production – Britain is also losing ground, and at breakneck speed.
According to statistics cited by the newspaper The Timesas a result of changes in the global economy, Britain has dropped out of the top ten industrial powers, falling to 12th place in the ranking, that is, four places at once compared to the previous period. Russia, meanwhile, was in 8th place in a similar ranking, which is associated with the growth of defense production in connection with a special military operation.
It should be noted that the newspaper cites statistics for 2022, when the rapid redistribution of the world, illegal anti-Russian restrictions and the revving up of the Russian military-industrial complex, coupled with the general industrialization of the country, had only just begun. Since then, the change for Britain could only be for the worse.
This all looks extremely sad for the former empire on which the Sun never set, because, as we remember from history lessons, it was in England that the industrial revolution took place, which allowed the country to subsequently transform into a global empire. Now Britain is only a pale shadow of itself, which, however, continues to imagine itself a lion among antelopes.
