The company expected the decline to be even greater.
Capcom Company released a report for the first quarter of fiscal 2025, ending March 31, calendar year 2024. Compared to the same quarter last year, Capcom’s results were down significantly.
Capcom’s overall revenue fell 32.5% to $192 million. Digital sales fell 43.5% to $138 million, while profits fell 45.1% to $64.7 million.
And here’s another story
Although profits have fallen by almost half, Capcom is not disheartened. The company’s report notes that the results of all its divisions were better than expected; Capcom expected the decline in revenue to be more severe.
The main reason for the decline in revenue is the lack of major releases comparable to early 2023. Back then, Capcom was actively selling the fighting game Street Fighter; at the end of the current quarter, the company released Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Capcom’s results should improve for the year. The company expects revenue to be around $1.07 billion, up 8.3% from last year.
