Publisher Take-Two Interactive, which recently owned Gearbox, confirmed the development of a new Borderlands back in March, but there is still no full announcement. However, it looks like we won’t have long to wait.
Gearbox co-founder and CEO Randy Pitchford in an interview GamesRadar and The Gamer admitted: “I didn’t hide very well that we were working on big projects.”
“I’m sure our fans will be very, very excited about the next video game we’re going to reveal. And I can tell you that we won’t keep people waiting too long for an announcement,” Pitchford assured.
The boss “can’t talk” about Borderlands 4, although he really wants to: currently, “the best and biggest team is working on exactly what our fans want from us.”
In addition, in the interview, Pitchford confirmed that the comedy action film Borderlands, scheduled for release next week, will receive a sequel.
According to Pitchford, the official announcement of the Borderlands sequel could be made before the end of this year. “We’ll see, maybe even earlier,” the director intrigues moviegoers.
Pitchford also hinted that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, due out in spring 2022, could also be getting a sequel, which was teased last fall by a former Gearbox employee. The fantasy looter shooter outsold the original Borderlands.
