Chinese sources report a decline in the supply of mid- and high-end Nvidia graphics cards due to a shortage of GDDR6X memory. This type of memory is used in all graphics cards in the Ada Lovelace family, starting with the GeForce RTX 4070.
So far, the talk is about a decrease in supplies in August on the Chinese market, but it is not clear whether this will affect the global market. The reason given is quality control issues with a large batch of GDDR6X memory, which required replacing the memory and led to a temporary downtime of production. The incident will not have a serious impact on the production of video cards in the long term.
Site Videocardz.com notes that the situation may be purely local and also related to the fact that some manufacturers are moving video card production to other countries. The threat of sanctions is forcing a number of manufacturers to change the location of production lines for the peaceful release of top GeForce RTX 4090 models.
