Huawei will soon release a new foldable smartphone called Nova Flip, which is expected to be unveiled on August 6. This will be the first clamshell in the Nova series. The new product will most likely be more affordable than Huawei Pocket smartphones, which are made in the same form factor.
The company posted on social media weibo.com video in which the TFBoys member showed off a lime green flip phone from all angles. The entire teaser is a series of clicks and clacks that spell out the word Flip in Morse code.
The Nova Flip smartphone features a small square outer display instead of the round one on the Huawei Pocket 2 foldable smartphone introduced earlier this year. The square shape reportedly makes the outer display more versatile in use.
There are two rear cameras located next to the outer screen, and a hole at the top of the inner screen houses the front camera. The body of the device is framed by a metal frame with a SIM card slot at the bottom. The flat power button also functions as a fingerprint scanner.
Since the Nova series of smartphones is aimed at a younger audience, the Nova Flip is expected to be priced lower than the Huawei Pocket 2. In addition to the Nova Flip, Huawei is also expected to unveil the new MateBook GT laptop, MatePad Pro 12.2 and MatePad Air 2024 tablets, and the X1 Max printer on August 6.
