The channel of the recognized master of destruction of smartphones and compact electronics JerryRigEverything released a video, the main character of which was the recently presented Samsung Z Flip 6. The clamshell held up well, although it was not possible to get rid of the typical “sores” of folding devices.
The internal screen of the Z Flip 6, although improved, is still easy to leave noticeable deep scratches on, even with a fingernail. However, the screen passed the heat test well – the film was deformed, but the pixels themselves remained undamaged. The external screen, covered with protective glass, holds up at the level of most modern smartphones. And yes, the paint flies off the side edges quite readily, so scratches are unavoidable. The hinge turned out to be quite resistant to dust and sand, as well as to bending in the opposite direction. However, the latter is more due to the shape of the case than the strength of the mechanism itself.
But the folding screen did not survive the removal of the film. As soon as it separated a little, the picture was replaced by a bright white rectangle, and the display itself began to crumble into its component layers. This is not very good news for those who thought that by the 6th generation, folding smartphones would become more durable and would require less careful handling. And yes, if you were always interested in how optical stabilization works on smartphones, but in this video you can clearly see that this is not a marketing ploy.
