Unlike Intel, which is lagging behind.
As reported by TrendForce According to German media, Taiwanese company TSMC expects to begin construction of its joint venture in Dresden in the coming weeks. If this happens before the end of the third quarter, the company will thereby be ahead of the original project deadline, which implied the start of construction of the TSMC plant in Germany in the fourth quarter of 2024.

TSMC expects to complete construction by the end of 2027. At the German enterprise, in which Bosch, Infineon and NXP will receive 10% of shares each, the company plans to launch the production of chips using technologies from 28 nm to 12 nm, including options with the FinFET transistor structure. Such technologies can hardly be called advanced at present, but the German industry will need the corresponding chips in large quantities, and localization of production is important for its development.
Rival Intel is delayed with its German facility, it was recently revealed. Not only will it not begin construction until May 2025, but it will not be completed until the end of 2028. The chip giant also recently abandoned plans to build a research center in France and a chip packaging facility in Italy, citing funding difficulties.
