In the first half of 2024, console sales on the Russian market reached 15.5 billion rubles or 704 thousand units, reports retailer M.Video-Eldorado. Compared to the same period in 2023, sales increased by 97% in monetary terms and by 39% in quantitative terms.
The best-selling console was the PlayStation 5, accounting for 73% of total revenue and 31% of all units sold. Xbox came in second (5.7% in terms of numbers), and Nintendo came in third (4.5% in terms of numbers).

As for Xbox and Nintendo, the popularity of these platforms has decreased compared to last year, due to the historically low loyalty of the Russian audience to them and the lack of major exclusives.
Other market participants have similar data. Wildberries reports a 77% increase in revenue from console sales, Yandex.Market reports a 176% increase in sales compared to last year.
It is assumed that console sales are growing due to the reduction in prices of some devices and the restoration of console supplies from the Chinese market. In addition, games on physical media with Russian localization are popular.
