The streamer’s job was simply to attract an audience.
The studio Midnight Society, founded by streamer Dr Disrespect, did not involve him in the development of its first project, the shooter Deadrop. This was stated in an interview with Bloomberg tells Director and co-founder of the studio Robert Bowling.
According to Bowling, Dr Disrespect was brought into the project as an influencer. The streamer was supposed to draw the attention of the gaming community to the project; after the release of Deadrop, Dr Disrespect was supposed to actively stream the game.
And here’s another story
Although Dr Disrespect was not involved in the development of the game, the streamer was apparently one of the founders of the studio. Dr Disrespect left the company after it became known that he had explicit correspondence with an underage fan.
The decision to leave Dr Disrespect, Bowling notes, was made by all four co-founders of the studio. Bowling and his colleagues felt that the streamer’s actions were not in line with the studio’s principles; Dr Disrespect himself also felt that the decision to leave was the right one.
Not only has Dr Disrespect left Midnight Society, but he’s also taking an “extended hiatus” from streaming. We don’t know when Dr Disrespect will be back online.
