NetherRealm Studios has announced the Khaos Reigns DLC for Mortal Kombat 1, which will bring a story expansion, six new characters, and the Animality, but this appears to be just the beginning of the latest installment in the series, according to Ed Boon.
The director and historic creator of Mortal Kombat promises that Mortal Kombat 1 will be supported for several years and therefore in the future there will be many other surprises aimed at increasingly enriching the popular fighting game. “In the past we had Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath and then the Ultimate version, right? So we will continue to add characters and stories, just like we have been doing for a long time with our games. We were sure after the launch of Mortal Kombat 1 that we would have years of content, so here we are now in Year 2”, these are the words pronounced by Boon at San Diego Comic-Con regarding the future of Mortal Kombat 1.
Boon’s words are therefore very significant, especially considering that historically NetherRealm Studios games have a shorter life cycle than other Fighting games on the market, so it will be very interesting to see how the developers will further grow Mortal Kombat 1 in the future. And speaking of news, in the meantime Season 7 of the Invasions mode is here, as recalled by the launch trailer.
Not just Mortal Kombat 1: it looks like a remaster of the original Mortal Kombat is in the works, at least according to some suspicious posts from Eyeballistic Game Studio.
