Meta gradually Deploys AI Studio on Instagram, a set of tools that, among other things, will allow bloggers to create their own AI persona that will respond to fan requests on their behalf.
The tool is currently only available to US authors, but will be expanded to other countries in the future.
According to Meta, the AI will help solve a “long-standing problem for users with large follower counts” who can’t respond to everyone on a daily basis. Authors will be able to use their own comments, captions, Reels transcripts, and any special instructions or links to make the chatbot “an extension of itself.”
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself recently suggested in an interview with Bloomberg that the company’s apps will eventually feature “hundreds of millions” of AI bots created by creators. However, it’s unclear whether Instagram users will be so interested in interacting with AI versions of their favorite creators. Meta has previously experimented with chatbots that embody the likenesses of celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Kendall Jenner, but the results were disappointing.
