The company will either slow down the release of some cards or equip them with slower memory.
Nvidia may face a GDDR6X memory shortage, they claim sources Benchlife. According to the publication, as a result, the company may adjust its plans for the release of GeForce RTX 40 series video cards.
Benchlife describes several possible scenarios:
Nvidia is simply cutting production of all graphics cards. Nvidia is cutting production of low-end cards, using memory for the GeForce RTX 4080 and higher-end cards. Nvidia will release special edition low-end cards with GDDR6 memory.
Among the cards that may receive slower memory, the GeForce RTX 4070 is mentioned. It is assumed that in this case Nvidia uses the chip and board from the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti – this video card uses GDDR6 memory.
The GDDR6X memory shortage could allegedly last until at least August. Nvidia has not yet announced any changes to its graphics card production plan.
