Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, a professional Valorant player on the Sentinels team, has openly expressed their dissatisfaction with the quality of computer equipment at tournaments organized by Riot Games.
“I will never understand why Riot skimps so much on tournament PCs,” Ngo said, calling attention to an issue he believes is undermining the quality of competition.
TenZ drew a parallel between Valorant tournaments and Counter-Strike championships. While CS tournaments, organized by various companies and sponsors, provide participants with cutting-edge equipment, Riot Games, according to Ngo, strives to reduce costs on equipment as much as possible.
“If even I can build a good computer for myself, why can’t Riot?” the eSports athlete wonders.
Ngo also suggested that Riot uses the same computers for Valorant tournaments as it does for League of Legends, a game known for its low system requirements. “They’re just saving money,” TenZ concluded.
