State Duma of the Russian Federation accepted a bill regulating cryptocurrency mining in the country. After it is signed by the president, cryptocurrency mining in Russia will become completely legal.
Both individuals and legal entities will be able to mine cryptocurrency. The restrictions for them are as follows:
Individuals: can mine cryptocurrency without being included in a special register, if the energy consumption limit is not exceeded. Legal entities and sole proprietors: can mine cryptocurrency after being included in a special register.
In addition, mining is prohibited for people with an unexpunged or unexpunged criminal record for economic crimes, convicted of crimes against state power or intentional crimes of medium gravity, for serious and especially serious crimes; there are other restrictions.
The Ministry of Digital Development will control the mining market. The rules for the market participants will be determined by the Russian government and the Bank of Russia.
Important point: the country’s authorities plan to control the turnover of cryptocurrencies. To do this, miners must provide information about the mined cryptocurrency and the addresses associated with it. This information will be monitored by Rosfinmonitoring.
