Directors can expect generous compensation, and actors can expect a trailer park.
Marvel Studios is working with Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo brothers again: the directors will shoot the next part of “The Avengers”, in which the actor will play Doctor Doom. Variety managed to find out about the terms of Marvel’s cooperation with the Russo brothers and Downey Jr.
The Russo brothers will receive $80 million for the two Avengers films, plus special bonuses: they are given out if the box office exceeds $750 million and $1 billion. The Russos will also become producers of the films, and will work through their own company; Marvel usually does not do this.
Robert Downey Jr. will earn “much more,” but the exact amount of his salary has not been disclosed. However, the actor can count on a host of additional perks:
Special security. Flights on a private jet. Special “trailer camp” on the set.
A private jet will come in handy for Robert Downey Jr. because Marvel is moving its main filming base from Atlanta, USA to London, England. Starting in the spring of 2025, all of the studio’s projects will be filmed there.
Interestingly, according to sources, Downey Jr. agreed to work with Marvel only if the Russo brothers directed the projects with his participation.
The premiere of the new part of “Avengers” will take place in 2026.
