Chivalry 2 developer Torn Banner has announced that the game’s latest update marks the “end of content and features,” meaning it will no longer receive significant updates.
In his message on Steam Torn Banner said it believes that with three years of support for Chivalry 2, including numerous updates, new content, and quality of life improvements, the studio has “more than achieved its goal” of doubling the size of Chivalry 2 over its lifetime.
Since Chivalry 2’s release, updates have increased the number of team mission maps from five to thirteen, introduced mounted combat, added tons of new gear, and more. The Regicide update, released in May, marks the end of Chivalry 2’s story, as well as the regular content additions.
While support for Chivalry 2 may have ended, that doesn’t mean the franchise is ending, as Torn Banner was quick to remind fans in a post on Steam.
The team is currently working on another multiplayer game in the Chivalry franchise, as well as an upcoming sequel to the co-op action horror No More Room in Hell 2. Torn Banner says it is building its team “in numbers and skill” to “wow players” when the next Chivalry game comes out.
Additionally, Chivalry 2 may not be getting more content, but it will still be updated with patches as needed. Official and unofficial servers will remain active, as will the matchmaking system, so you won’t have to worry about Chivalry 2’s weekly raids running out.
Chivalry 2 itself isn’t going anywhere either. You can buy it right now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Unusually, the game isn’t free, but it is available through Game Pass, so if you’re a subscriber, you can check it out at no extra cost.
