The release of the Shadow of the Erdtree add-on for Elden Ring has sparked a new wave of player complaints about the difficulty of FromSoftware’s action RPGs, but one disgruntled gamer has decided to take his outrage to court.
The other day social networks Screenshots from a thread on the imageboard 4Chan began to circulate, in which a user under the pseudonym Nora Kisaragi announced the filing of a lawsuit in a Massachusetts court against Bandai Namco.
The lawsuit does exist and is categorized as a small claims case ($2,000-$5,000). The plaintiff is Evan Forrester Waugh, apparently Nora Kisaragi’s alter ego, and the hearing is scheduled for September 25.
According to the plaintiff, due to their complexity, FromSoftware projects, including Elden Ring, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Bloodborne, hide “entire new games” inside that are inaccessible to even the most hardcore fans.
“You will be forced to realize that hackers lied to you that content was cut, although in fact it was simply not found,” the applicant is sure. He does not believe that various elements are actually cut from games during development.
Players have mocked the 4Chan plaintiff and questioned his mental health. “If you go deep into the cave from (Elden Ring), at the other end there will be Sonic Adventure 2 Battle,” jokes KarlGerm in X.
There is a high probability, given the nature of the claims, that the lawsuit will end in nothing. Reddit has already presentas a judge dismisses a case after Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki says the applicant simply isn’t good enough at the game.
