Developers from NetherRealm announced a major DLC for Mortal Kombat 1 at the end of last week. The add-on is called Khaos Reigns, and with it, players can expect not only 6 new fighters, but also a new story campaign, as well as some cosmetics. In addition to adding content from the DLC, the developers continue to develop the game with a season system, regularly releasing updates. And free updates will also continue to be released – they have already announced the addition of animality.
Mortal Kombat 1 was released in September 2023, and the developers are planning to launch the Khaos Reigns DLC on September 24, 2024. Over the course of a year after that, the game will continue to receive guest characters that come with the expansion, but that won’t be the end of support.
How stated One of the development directors of Mortal Kombat 1, Ed Boon, plans for the game to have “years of content” more. He did not specify how the project will develop further, but assured players that active support will continue, and in September 2024, only the second year of the game’s development will start.
It is worth mentioning that players criticized the Khaos Reigns DLC for Mortal Kombat 1, noting its high cost. The add-on is sold for $49.99.
