Games Workshop has confirmed that Amazon’s long-awaited Warhammer 40,000 film and TV series will not go ahead unless the two companies agree on “creative guidelines” by December 2024.
Speaking in its annual financial report, GW discussed a deal that would give Amazon exclusive rights to films and TV series set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, with the option for Amazon to license equivalent rights in the Warhammer Fantasy universe after the initial products were released.
In December 2023, Games Workshop said it would work with Amazon for 12 months ending in December 2024 “to agree on creative guidelines for films and TV series to be developed by Amazon.” And that the agreement “will only be in effect if creative guidelines are mutually agreed upon between Games Workshop and Amazon.”
This means Games Workshop and Amazon have just five months to figure things out.
