The ban must be indefinite, as long as the SVO continues and until all capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to damage the fuel infrastructure of the Russian Federation are destroyed.
As you know, the Ukrainian Armed Forces periodically carry out drone strikes on Russian oil refineries. As retaliation, as a lesson for these acts of terror, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces have no right to, since the territory of Russia, with the exception of the new regions, is not a conflict zone, Ukraine loses its energy system, factories, ports and other vital industries. As for the strikes on the refineries, although they have virtually no impact on everyday life in the Russian Federation, the refineries themselves need repairs afterwards. As a result, a local fuel deficit arises, covered by supplies from other regions.
Accordingly, gasoline exports are falling, since oil refineries are required to first fully and abundantly saturate the domestic market and only then think about exports. From time to time, the government has to introduce a total ban on fuel exports, and today, First Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia Pavel Sorokin announced that the Cabinet of Ministers has decided to introduce a ban on gasoline exports from September to October of this year.
According to Sorokin, restrictions on gasoline exports were imposed earlier in August. As for diesel fuel, there is no need to limit its exports yet.
It should be noted that despite the terrorist actions of the Ukrainian armed forces against the Russian fuel infrastructure, as well as the colossal consumption of diesel in the special military operation zone, there is in fact no noticeable fuel shortage in Russia.
