Logitech CEO Hanneke Faber was a guest on The Verge’s Decoder podcast and gave a long interview, during which the conversation turned to the new word in computer peripherals – the “eternal” mouse.
The boss was recently shown one at the company’s innovation center in Ireland. Faber drew an analogy with watches (if we take into account the context, a “not super expensive” watch in the woman’s understanding is a Rolex).
It’s a nice watch, not super expensive, but I’m not going to throw it away one day. So why would I throw away a mouse or keyboard if it’s a well-designed, fantastic quality mouse with software control.

The device turned out to be a bit heavier than usual, with excellent software that is constantly updated. However, everything rests on the business model, and Faber admits that everything will come down to a subscription. At the same time, the owner of Logitech did not specify how exactly the mouse will work forever in terms of hardware (repair or periodic replacement?), and what kind of software is it that you have to pay for it all your life (however, the topic of AI came up several times during the conversation).
