Jonathan Blow: Braid Anniversary Edition Sells Terribly
In a new compilation video from Jonathan Blow’s Twitch channel, it appears that he is becoming increasingly negative about Braid Anniversary Edition sales as time goes on.
6 days after the launch of Braid Anniversary Edition, Blow was asked about the game’s sales, of which he himself was still unsure.
“I’ll put it this way, we’re really not sure,” Blow replied. “It’s not like we sold a million copies on day one, which is what you would expect. It’s a remaster, right? So you don’t expect it to be like a new game in terms of the level of hype. But we’ll see where it lands.”
34 days later, Blow was asked again if the game was selling well.
“No, it sold really badly,” Blow said. “It depends on your standards. If you compare it to the nostalgic stuff, like Jeff Minter’s games on Steam, or the Atari 50, all of those games sold way better than those. But it still sold like dog shit compared to what we had to make to survive.”
Blow added, “Our future is uncertain, let’s put it that way. It’s not good. It’s not good.”
68 days later, Blow was again asked if he was happy with the game’s sales. “No, it’s terrible,” Blow replied. “It’s really bad.”
74 days later, Blow was asked about Jai, a new programming language he was working on and planned to release at some point in the future.
When asked how many people worked full-time on the compiler for Jai, Blow replied: “None, because we couldn’t afford to pay anyone, because sales were bad.”
Braid Anniversary Edition sudah tersedia di PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Netflix (iOS, Android), dan PC (Steam).
