Electronic Arts released a report for the first quarter of fiscal 2025, ending June 30, calendar year 2024. The company reported a decline in all key metrics compared to the previous year.
Electronic Arts’ revenue fell by 13% to $1.66 billion, while profits fell by 30% to $280 million. The decline in revenues was due to a drop in game sales: revenue from this area fell by 58%.
At the same time, microtransactions showed a drop in revenue of only 7% compared to last year. Electronic Arts expects that game sales will recover in the foreseeable future.
In addition to the already released EA Sports College Football 25, which attracted 5 million players in a week, the company expects Madden NFL, EA Sports FC and Dragon Age The Veilguard to show good sales.
According to Electronic Arts, Dragon Age The Veilguard is scheduled to release in Q3 of the fiscal year. This means that the game will be released between October 1 and December 31, 2024.
For the full year, the company intends to show revenue of $7.1-7.5 billion, with profit expected at $0.9-1.1 billion.
