Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella told investors about the success of the gaming division following the results of the completed quarter.
The company currently sees over 500 million monthly active users across all relevant platforms and devices.
Xbox game studios are also making a leap into film and television, Nadella said, citing the Fallout series, which is second only to The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power in popularity among Amazon Prime Video titles.
Nadella noted that after Fallout’s debut, “hours spent playing franchise games on Game Pass increased nearly 5x compared to the same quarter last year.”
Let’s remember that all Fallout games are available with the Xbox subscription. Many netizens noted that the lack of a new release in the series during the release of the series is an oversight on Bethesda’s part.
Other highlights from Microsoft’s quarterly financial report:
Xbox console revenue fell 42% year-over-year; games and game content sales grew 44%, again thanks to the influence of Activision Blizzard, whose merger deal closed in October 2023.
